Movies That Will Make You Woozy (In A Good Way)
Stress can overtake us all at one point or another. That’s why it’s important to remember to occasionally kick back and relax. A great way to do that is to see the world from a new perspective—at least for a little while. I’ve handpicked the best movies for you to do just that. (You can probably push off that one assignment a little longer, right?)
Calling all Dylan O’Brien fans and adrenaline junkies: If you haven’t heard, The Maze Runner series has graced our lives with a second movie, The Scorch Trials. Released on September 18th, this sci-fi thriller already has a high rating among the many other blockbusters in theaters. After escaping the maze in the first movie, the “Gladers” now have a new obstacle. They must venture into the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with dangers beyond your wildest dreams (seriously, I never would’ve thought that some of these things could exist). Their only hope is to find a mysterious group of people called the “Right Hand” that can help fight the opposing and powerful organization WCKD. Sound enthralling? Based off of the book series, this movie has without a doubt attracted countless fans to the theater, but who says you need to be an avid reader to enjoy a great movie?
But maybe you’re not into the whole “kept on the edge of your seat, biting your fingernails in anticipation” thing. Luckily for you, next up is The Intern, a light-hearted comedy with Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro (come on, need I say more?) acting as the founder of a popular fashion website and her intern, respectively. Essentially, Ben Whittaker (De Niro) decides that retirement just isn’t for him. Honestly, retirement does sound pretty boring. He acts on his need to do something with his time and chooses to make a comeback, only as a “senior intern” for Jules Ostin (Hathaway). The movie follows their work experience and the development of their friendship, the likes of which I think we all hope to have. Watch this humorous, heart-warming film on September 25th (coincidentally, a Friday – meaning you can wait until afterward to do your homework).
Are you looking for an in-between movie choice here? Possibly an entirely different genre? In theaters on October 8th, a rehash of an age-old childhood story, Pan, is categorized as a fantasy, adventure and family film (so you can probably wait until it’s released on DVD and watch it at home with a younger sibling without worries – it’s okay, I won’t judge you, not everyone wants to venture outside in order to enjoy a good film). This movie, however, follows not the path of Wendy and Peter Pan, but the origins of Pan himself. As an orphan, Peter is brought to Neverland via magic to discover the adventure of a lifetime… and his destiny while he’s at it. Haven’t you ever wondered how Peter Pan became a legend?
Hopefully now you’ve become inspired to delve into the world of another for a while. After watching a movie or two (or all three, you never know), you may feel slightly more relaxed and ready to take on the world. If that is true, then my work here is done.
