Game Review: Rocket League
Rocket League, a PC/PS3 game released by Psyonix on July 7, already has over three million people players. And that count is still rising. Rocket League is a fast-paced, competitive game that draws its roots from soccer. The game is a simplified form of the sport where your objective is to get the ball into the goal using the car you control. These matches range from 1v1’s to 4v4’s where you must utilize orbs, or boosts, around the field to jump, flip, fly and smash into people to blow them up. This method only works until your boost runs out and is used to hit the ball, as well as launch yourself from the walls, on which you can drive.
Rocket League’s matchmaking system places you against players with the same skill level. If you make good plays and have the controls down, you will be matched against higher-ranked players. The ranking system, otherwise known as your level, is determined by the number of games won.
Rocket League is also known for its customizability. This feature, although essentially just for looks, also gives players an incentive to win games and further customize their cars. Rocket League is definitely one of the best games released this year, and many people would agree, considering 93% of the 20,566 reviews on Steam are positive. That statistic only goes to prove how good of a game Rocket League truly is.
