Fallout 4
Bethesda Game Studio’s long-awaited fifth major installment to the Fallout franchise has finally been released. On November 10, Fallout 4 was finally released for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. Just like the rest of the franchise, Fallout 4 is an RPG where you can choose the decisions your character takes, as well as a first or third person shooter.
Fallout 4 takes place in post-apocalyptic Boston, where you are the sole survivor of vault 111. A nuclear war resulted in an apocalypse that forced people into vaults where they would wait for the war to end. However, in vault 111, everyone but the player has died.
Another aspect that makes this game interesting is that in combat, certain actions take action points limiting the combatants actions during their turn. The combat in this game is quite interesting due to the fact that not only is the game turn based, but during combat you may target certain body parts and shooting any of these body parts will yield a different effect than others.
Other than combat, this game also draws in players with new feature where you may start up a town or settlement and build structures in it using resources and supplies.
While 80% of its players enjoyed this game, there was one common complaint among reviewers: Bethesda Game Studio removed alternate endings in the game. The other Fallout games allowed you to be either the good or bad guy with your decisions influencing this. However, in Fallout 4, this feature was removed. You are quite literally forced to play the good guy. While some players didn’t care or were playing this as their first Fallout game, many fans of the franchise felt betrayed and angered by the decision of having the game end only one way.
But even among those who were angered by this change, players state to have still enjoyed the game.
