It is finally that time of year – November 18th, the day that The Pokémon Company releases a new video game for Nintendo’s handheld video consoles. For nearly 7 months, fans have waited to finally get their hands on the game, and now they can! Pokemon Sun and Moon are here! Welcome to the Alola Region!

Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon are innovative; instead of battling with eight gym leaders from the different regions, players must endure a series of four trials to get closer to the Alola League. With a total of 79 new Pokémon in the Alola Region, there are many ways to assemble a team powerful enough to conquer all of Alola. Among the new releases, three never before seen Legendary Pokémon have been revealed. Depending on the game chosen, special Pokemon, like Lycanroc, will have different forms. Legendary Pokémon Solgaleo is available in Sun, while Lunala can be caught in Moon. Stronger Pokémon, known as Ultra Beasts, come into play as well. These releases also come with a new adversary – Team Skull. They come into play to meddle with the trainer’s quest, stopping at nothing to defeat them. Additionally, Sun and Moon offer an entirely new generation of Pokémon, complete with another set of starters: grass type Rowlet, water type Popplio, and fire type Litten. Select Pokémon are able to execute Z moves, giving them a one-shot super powerful attack.

Pokémon Sun and Moon have been called “the number one [release] of 2016.” Beginners, like 13-year-old Steven Hollandu, proclaim it to be “[their] best experience ever!” However, that is not to say that old-timers, like 15-year-old Deja Ebalarosa, who has played the video games since 2005, can not enjoy the different, yet “totally amazing,” games.
