NBA 2K16 Review

NBA+2K16+Review

Whether you have the Xbox One or the PlayStation 4, the experience while playing the NBA 2K series is still the same. 2K Sports has come out with their annual NBA game, and it’s fantastic.

Normally you would buy the new NBA game to update the roster, but over the past two years they have made some new changes in the NBA experience. It is a lot more difficult to make open shots and drain three-pointers. I believe they were trying to make the game more realistic, which meant it wouldn’t be as easy as it was in the past.

It is quite the adjustment for new players and I recommend you try to do plays like the pick and roll to get players open because very few contested shots are going to fall for you.

The game mode “MyCareer” has a whole new complexion as the developers made it into a story mode written by none other than Spike Lee. Your name is Freq, short for the nickname “Frequency Vibrations,” and you start off in high school, go to the college of your choice and work your way to the NBA. Just like in any other movie, there are social problems going on behind the scenes with Freq and his long time friend Vic van Lier.

I finished the story mode portion, which is from high school to your rookie season. I thought it was amazing–something new instead of just playing games and upgrading your player over and over.

After you finish the first season, there are no more movie-like cutscenes and another new element is brought to the game. You can have relationships with players that can help you for your “MyTeam,” where you have the ability to unlock those players. You can also sponsor companies, giving you coins which use can you to purchase different in-game content. “MyCareer” seems to be the biggest change from NBA 2K15 to NBA 2K16, but there have been significant changes to the gameplay as well.

I recommend you buy NBA 2K16–it’s worth every penny.
