Everyone was asked to be at Huntington Train Station at 7A.M. on Friday morning. The train arrived at 7:37 and by 7:40 we were on our way! We got off the train at Penn Station around 8:40 and only had to walk upstairs to get to the entrance of Madison Square Garden. After anxiously waiting, we were allowed in and quickly went through security. The All Access Tour finally began around 9:45, when we met our tour guide, Daniel.

Immediately following our group picture, he brought us up to Madison Square Garden’s main concourse. The tour was kicked off with the history behind some of the showcases surrounding the arena and The 366. The 366 displays the Garden’s best moments and exhibits one flashback for everyday of the year, including February 29th. Afterwards, we watched a short video which went through the history and reconstruction of Madison Square Garden.

The employees were preparing for the La Salsa Vive concert the following day, so the surface of the arena was covering the ice. Before the hockey season begins, MSG freezes an inch of water which is able to stay frozen due to the insulation under the surface. When preparing for a concert or basketball game, the workers put insulated rubber, like blocks, over it. The blocks are each numbered and are put together like a puzzle. During the tour, we had the privilege of going on the floor. When we touched the insulated blocks that were an inch away from the ice, they were not cold at all! After that, our tour guide, Daniel, took us to the beer room. FUN FACT: A cup of beer is about $10!

There are escalators that connect the towers of The Garden. To surpass the fees of food and drinks, tickets are available to go to the Delta Sky360 Club. This room is only open to certain ticket holders. Fans are able to see the players running to the court/ice through a glass tunnel before the game, and after halftime. Just behind the Sky360 Club is the New York Knicks’ and Rangers’ locker rooms, which we were able to look in on.

After that, our tour guide Daniel took us to the 1879 Club, where the celebrities like Beyoncé and Jay-Z hang out before, during, and after the show or game. Following our All Access tour, an employee spoke to us about life in the business world and good tips to being successful throughout high school, college, and the real world.
The walk to Mustang Harry’s took about 5 minutes. We were served delicious food and the restaurant had great service. There were great views of the surroundings on the train ride back to Huntington. A big thanks to the business department for bringing us, and for an amazing experience!
