Before we enter into the holiday season, we get to acknowledge last month’s festivities in the world of designers and models in the form of fashion month. A highly-anticipated part of fashion month is the semi-annual clothing trade show called Milan Fashion Week. Organized by the National Chamber for Italian Fashion, this event and the highlights from the catwalk certainly demonstrate Milan’s prowess in fashion and attest to its title as the fashion capital of the world.

This fall fashion week, the runways were full of designs from Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and more.

Gucci had a 120-piece where models pulled off mullets, chinoiserie umbrellas, fanny packs, and pieces of luggage. Dolce & Gabbana’s front row was considered a “Cool Kids Paradise,” according to Sarah Lindig, a writer for Elle. Dolce’s theme was Tropico Italiano, but eyes seemed to be drawn off the runway and into the front row. “It’s all about the millennials,” commented Dolce and Gabbana on an Instagram post. There were hundreds of the next generation of stars sitting in the rows, trailblazing their own paths in the world of fashion.

Along with funky accessories and the future’s brightest stars, the designers’ favorite styles and new trends cannot be forgotten. Plaid was definitely a designer favorite; brands including Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, and Chanel all included coats with the old-yet-new trend. Winter florals made their way onto the runways of Gucci and Prada. It’s obvious denim is a favorite all year round, but this fall, jeans weren’t the only articles included. The Texas tuxedo made its way into the shows of Calvin Klein, Dior, and Marc Jacobs. Milan Fashion Week was fashion-packed with statement piece accessories, fresh faces and designer-favorite styles.
