Since its debut in 2011, the TV series Suits has been an exceptionally popular show. The show has regained, if not exceeded, its popularity because it was added to Netflix circa mid-2023. But why should you watch it now?

The show accurately portrays the world of corporate law in a way that makes every moment as intriguing as possible. The viewer gets to witness the fundamental workings of corporate law firms by showing how they operate and the people behind the operation. Suits isn’t just a memorable and likable show because of its portrayal of corporate law, but because of its portrayal of its characters. The viewers feel a connection to the main characters as they can understand them and the show presents them as more than just heartless robots, but as people.

Suits has received incredible amounts of recognition over the last few months. So much so that, according to an article by BBC Culture from August 2023, it has received “more than 12.8 billion minutes viewed in the US over the last four weeks.” Additionally, an article from 34th Street Magazine states that, “In July alone, Suits reportedly hit 18 billion viewing minutes across Peacock and Netflix.” A Walt Whitman Sophomore also referred to Suits as “the perfect binge show,” a sentiment shared by many. Sure enough, by July, the show was ranked at #4 for the most popular series on Netflix.

The series does nothing short of a phenomenal job of fleshing out its characters, making you feel attached to them, almost like you know them. So much so that even when the main characters are in the wrong, you still root for them. Suits mainly follows Mike Ross and Harvey Specter. Mike Ross is a genius with a photographic memory that has always wanted to be a lawyer but was never able to follow through on it. His supporting lead, Harvey Specter, is one of New York’s finest corporate lawyers. Their two cross paths, which ensues a long-lasting friendship and partnership, bringing major character development with it. The plot is fantastic as it successfully keeps the viewer on their toes, making it the perfect binge show as there’s always something to look forward to in the next episode.

Overall, Suits is the perfect show to binge watch, especially for those interested in the law/becoming a lawyer. The episodes are a reasonable amount of time, the characters are fleshed out in a very good lens, and the plot is nothing short of a masterpiece. This show honestly deserves a 10/10 as it is simply a gem. It is most certainly a show that you should watch.
