Listen, we’ve all heard that Junior Year is hard, but none of us knew what to expect.
In September, we didn’t expect this year to be such a drastic change from sophomore year. I mean, we would always hear from our upperclassmen friends last year that Junior Year was a struggle, but we really didn’t know exactly what would be so different.
Now we’ve had several months of experience. September is usually one of the more relaxed months to get through, mainly because summer feels so recent. And excitingly, more of us take Drivers Ed. Then, by October, fall sports were in full swing and everyone was talking about Powder Puff. I guess our loss was a prelude to this year. Then, we all took the PSAT… enough said there.
But, in November, we were happy just to have a couple days off for Election Day and Veterans Day. As Thanksgiving rolled around, school started to become more difficult, and we questioned why we didn’t have the whole week off, even though it’s just Thanksgiving. And we all know how tiring that first Monday back from Thanksgiving was…
And now, in the month of February, we’re only halfway through the school year. “I’m tired but it’s been fun!” says Adriana Yaroshevsky when asked about her experience as a junior so far. The topic of college and the SAT is brought up time and time again. While some of your friends are asking you if you’ve registered for the test, your other friends are asking you who you’re bringing and what you’re wearing to prom. If you’re like us, you might feel overwhelmed with the questions. Personally, we think that it’s best to just focus on right now. Soon, Girls Sports Night meetings and practices start, and it’s almost time for Spring sport workouts.
The experience was summed up well by Junior Olivia Knudsen: “Junior year has been stressful. I don’t have time for anything. But, I’m excited for junior prom and to get my dress!”
Surely, with Spring Break right around the corner, we know we have something to look forward to!
