Town of Huntington Undergoes Sidewalk Renovations

The Town of Huntington can be described as a progressive community. Steps are always being taken to further advance the area, rather than let it decline – whether it is a newly renovated clubhouse at the Crab Meadow Golf Course or the organization of numerous festivals and gatherings like the Summer Arts Festival. The amount of opportunities that the Town of Huntington boasts is incredible. Countless delicious restaurants, quiet, relaxing beaches, and great hiking trails are just some of what Huntington has to offer.

All of these great resources are now even easier to access. The latest improvement to the Town of Huntington is a simple sidewalk. This new sidewalk runs all the way from Oakwood Road near Stimson Middle School directly into Huntington Village. There was previously a sidewalk in its place, but it had many breaks in it and was not consistent enough to get all the way into town without having to walk on the side of the road. The sidewalk is brand-new and runs on both sides of the road with hardly any breaks. Construction began as early as late May into early June when the initial path was laid out with bails of hay. Throughout the summer, small plots of concrete, slowly but surely, were poured down and shaped into what would become the sidewalk. It was completed by the end of the summer.

The new sidewalk provides both Whitman students as well as other members of the community a safe and physically active way to get into the village to utilize all that the Town of Huntington has to offer. It is the latest step to making a better Huntington for everyone.
