Ronda Rousey Suffers First Career UFC Loss to Holly Holms
Arguably one of the most feared UFC fighters today, Ronda Rousey was looking to improve to an undefeated career record of 13-0 in the bantamweight championship against Holly Holm, who was 9-0 entering the fight. Something had to give.
In Rousey’s last four UFC fights, she had beaten her opposition in a total of two minutes and ten seconds. In the first round, Rousey came out swinging wildly but Holm stayed calm and collective and was able to land several solid punches to the jaw of Rousey.
The two then ended up on the ground momentarily, and as soon as they were back on their feet, Holm landed another solid punch as Rousey was bleeding from her nose.
Towards the end of the first round, Rousey began throwing punches in despair and Holm took the first round 10-9. Then shortly into the second round, Holm delivered early counter-strikes to Rousey and quickly finished her off with a head-kick and a knockout.
This was clearly a huge upset to Ronda Rousey due to all of the stardom she has built up recently. But many have overlooked the fact that Holly Holm is now 10-0 in her career due to the fact that she struggled her way through some of her victories. But now that Rousey has suffered her first career loss, the stage is now set as to how she will handle her return to her winning ways.
