Over Easter weekend, a major jewel heist took place in London. This heist is being called the “Hatton Garden Heist” and resulted in the robbery of 3 million dollars of precious jewels, diamonds and cash. The thieves broke into London’s jewelry quarter through an exterior wall, descended into the underground vault and broke through to the safe deposit boxes. The deposit boxes were opened using a very powerful drill. After entering they rebuilt the face of the building—this was apparent because the mortar had not yet set when the authorities arrived. On May 19th, nine men were arrested for the heist.
