Super Bowl LI Goes Down In History as An Exciting Battle for Victory
The NFL hosted its 51st Super Bowl, in which the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots fought for the champion title at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The game was one of the NFL’s most exciting; the New England Patriots made a ruthless comeback and proved, yet again, that Tom Brady could not be stopped. Whitman student, Epi Ramirez, commented to our reporters, “The game brought people together because even though we were rooting for different teams we all bonded over the amazing plays, runs and the funny commercials!”
The Atlanta Falcons dominated the game up until the 3rd quarter. They began the 3rd quarter comfortably ahead with a score of 28-3, but as the minutes passed the New England Patriots were able to make an amazing comeback, scoring the tying point just a minute before the end of the game. Put into the words of sophomore, Skylar Pekarek, “The Falcons deserved to lose! Especially after pulling a stupid play and getting sacked T.B.H!” Whether they deserved to or not, lose they did.
After the Patriots tied the game, the game went into the first overtime in Super Bowl history. After the first extra minutes play, it was clear who the next champion would be. It was an incredible choke up for the Falcons, they were extremely lacking in resistance. The unbelievable plays asserted that Tom Brady is, in fact, the greatest quarterback ever, he won his 4th Super Bowl M.V.P award, yet another Super Bowl record. “Quite the game it was… they really ran across the field,” concluded Whitman junior,
Tyler Malone. It was without a doubt the most thrilling Super Bowl, and will surely be remembered by all who watched the ordeal.
