Prom Perfect

Promenade, or prom as we tend to know it as, is the event that celebrates the end of high school and the beginning of one’s adult life. Although you may have been planning how the night will play out since your freshman year, here are the three A’s to remember while preparing for this special night.

  • Alterations:  While you may have found the perfect dress, you still want to make sure that it fits perfectly. If you don’t like the way it fits, speak up and tell the dressmaker or  tailor and let her know that the fit is not exactly what you had in mind. Prom is your night—and a long night—so make sure that you will be comfortable enough to dance and enjoy yourself.
  • Accessories: You may be thinking that you have all the time in the world to find the right bag, the right shawl, and the most comfortable shoes. You don’t. These accents take time to find, so make sure that your accessories match each other and compliment your dress. I cannot stress enough how important having comfortable shoes is. Like I said, prom is a long night and you don’t want the blisters on your feet the next day as a reminder of that.
  • Appointments: Numerous appointments go into prom planning as many girls get their hair, makeup and nails done. With this in mind, book your appointments as soon as possible because you want to get the right time slots so you have a comfortable amount of time to get ready.

The three A’s might sound silly, but this short checklist is just to remind you of all the little errands you may want to run before the big day arrives. Remember, have fun and don’t stress too much, it’s just prom – the celebration you’ve been waiting for since you were a freshman.
